This paper shares the first results of an ongoing collaborative action research whereby , ten development organizations joined hands to explore a diverse mix of PME approaches with the aim of dealing more effectively with complex processes of social change.
There are four reasons why this paper may be of interest to you:
1. An analytic framework of 4 questions that may help you to assess your own effectiveness in dealing with complex change
2. An overview of how various organizations combined and adapted various PME approaches (e.g. outcome mapping, most significant change, client satisfaction instruments, …)
3. An outline of the meaning and the importance of a balanced PME approach (PME is more than just the tools).
4. A practical example of reflective action by organizations who are themselves becoming the researchers.
